Short Synopsis
Black Thursday is the story of Phillip Broadwood, a young London stockbroker who loses all his money in the stock market crash of 1929. On the day of the crash his mentor at the brokerage disappears, along with any explanation of where their money has gone or how it was lost. Desperate to regain his wealth and his friend, and fearing poverty for his wife and child, he embarks on a quest through the darkest corners of London, picking up clues and learning the occult secrets of his mentor’s past. Broadwood is drawn into darker and stranger territory, until he finally tracks down his mentor, but by this time he is too entangled in the events to survive.
Thematically, the downfall of Phillip Broadwood mirrors the fall and crash of the stock market, and the hopes and dreams of these desperate men.
